RIP Nelson Mandela
Waking to the news that former the former President of South Africa, Nelson Mandela has passed away took time for the news to penetrate. We have lost not just a great leader but a kind man who proved that the strongest thing you can be in life is to be kind. To listen rather than speak, to welcome rather than attack, to reason rather than argue.
On his release from 27 years in prison, he addressed the crowds surrounding Cape Town's City Hall on Sunday February 11, 1990 with these words: "I greet you all in the name of peace, democracy and freedom for all. I stand here before you not as a prophet but as a humble servant of you, the people. Your tireless and heroic sacrifices have made it possible for me to be here today. I therefore place the remaining years of my life in your hands."
South Molton Street Style
When you think of style and shopping in London doubtless a number of street names come to mind: Bond Street, Oxford Street, Savile Row and Carnaby Street, but for those who know their fashion map off by heart South Molton Street will be a regular destination being home to Brown’s and Browns focus for the serious fashionista and a whole range of interesting brands have their boutiques there. If you want the whole look then read Jas' review of the South Molton Street branch of Sassoon Salon for a glamorous hair cut and have a coffee with friends afterwards, being situated in the heart of Mayfair you’re minutes away the other great shopping streets. With the sales a mere sneeze away we give you some ideas of what to be hunting down. Turn up the Volume: Sassoon Salon Review
“If you don’t look good, we don’t look good” – a strap line I still remember from my childhood. It originates from a Vidal Sassoon advertising campaign, accompanied by beautiful models with equally beautiful glossy hair. I was offered the opportunity to join the beautiful hair club at Sassoon’s salon on South Molton Street. South Molton Street is a real fashionista destination with shops such as Brown’s Focus, Sandro, Supertrash and Butler and Wilson jewellery, this Mayfair street is the natural home for such a famous hair salon. Donna & Simeon wrap up Christmas
We love Simeon Farrar he of Black Score with his humourous take on our silly world of fashion which we all take far too seriously creating sweat shirts and T’s that are both funny and really cool. We’re not the only one he’s a firm fave of Cara and now his number one fan is Donna Ida, jean queen extraordinaire. They’ve teamed up to create hand screen-printed limited edition Christmas wrapping paper for customers at her shop.
Maria Livings from Lush Designs has picked out some of her favourite designs from their range to give you some inspiration for your Christmas shopping 14th December. You can read all about Lush Designs in our earlier post. Lush Designs started out as two friends running a market stall in historic Greenwich, London, when sales increased they set up their lovely little boutique just around the corner from the market selling their distinctive print designs for interiors and accessories.
